Divorce Coaching

The American Bar Association recognized Divorce Coaching as a dispute resolution resource.

“Divorce coaching is a flexible, goal-oriented process designed to support, motivate, and guide people going through divorce to help them make the best possible decisions for their future, based on their particular interests, needs, and concerns. Divorce coaches have different professional backgrounds and are selected based on the specific needs of the clients.  For example, some divorce coaches are financial planners, mental health professionals, lawyers, or mediators who have experience dealing with divorcing clients.”

The Role of a CDC Certified Divorce Coach®

A divorce coach is a trained professional who provides emotional support, practical guidance, and strategic planning throughout the divorce process. They help you manage the complexities of divorce by offering personalized assistance tailored to your specific needs and circumstances. This includes helping you communicate effectively, stay organized, and make informed decisions.

The top feedback I receive after someone connects with a divorce coach from my program

• 'I feel hopeful for the first time in a long time.'

• 'I am actually saving money because I'm not leaning on my attorney for emotional support and to understand the system.'"

Understanding High-Conflict Divorce Coaching

A HCDC is trained in post separation abuse and can help clients to better understand the family court system while ensuring they are presenting in the best possible light. The term “divorce coach” may lead some to believe that a HCDC only works with individuals who have been married or that the service ends when the divorce decree is signed. A HCDC works with anyone who is attempting to navigate a high conflict custody battle, whether married or not. In addition, a HCDC excels when it comes to the topic of coparenting and communicating with a toxic or narcissistic individual.

A High Conflict Divorce Coach (HCDC) becomes a strategy partner for their client, getting into the trenches and assuming position as a trusted team member. A HCDC maintains strong boundaries, not crossing into attorney territory (legal advice) or therapeutic territory (mental health). The services and support of a HCDC complements the work of family law attorneys and mental health providers. The HCDC holds a unique lens, helping their clients to see things from a variety of angles and perspectives so they are fully educated on the process. The HCDC guides the client to operate from a place of strategy versus emotion.

A Divorce Coach recognizes that how you start a divorce sets the tone for how the rest of the divorce might go. As divorce coaches we are NOT pro-divorce. We are simply committed to helping you make the best possible decision for yourself and your family based on their particular interest, needs and concerns.
